Shopping at the Indio Swap Meet

One thing we did discover about this Thousand Trails park is that moving time occurs earlier than what we would have thought. Jerry and Janice had planned on arriving about 9:00. The plan was that we would look for a site close to us. Since they’d be so early, we figured they would have the pick of them. That’s not so. The big move-out started a little after 8:00. RV after RV packed up and hit the road for wherever their next destination was. That didn’t mean their sites were empty either. Others inside the park were also watching for better locations that were opening up. They started moving their RVs from one site to another. It was an interesting morning. However, the Hyders did get a good site, facing the right way and only one road over. Our morning mission was accomplished.

The other day I mentioned all the fairs and swap meets I knew about in this area. However, I missed one. It’s the Indio Swap Meet and held every Wednesday night from 4:00 bra0PM to 10:00 PM (except for during the period of time when they have the Date Festival and need the lot for parking). So, guess where we went last night. We went to the Indio Swap Meet.

Popular Swap Meet Item

We have been to a lot of these swap meets. Some real good “stuff” can be found sometimes. Other times it’s great entertainment.

Janice and I get such a kick out of the boys. They are both real shoppers. We actually just tagged along to keep them in line and make sure they didn’t spend a bundle on something they really only wanted for the moment or didn’t really need. Like I said, they both love shopping.

Checking out an electric scooter

We arrived a little after 4:00 PM and some of the vendors were just setting up. All kinds of things were for sale from clothes to food to furniture to just about anything you could think of.

The boys found lots of stuff to look at. Why is it women always have the reputation of being the ones who love to shop when really it can be the men. I think women shop many times because they have to. You know if they don’t do the gift shopping, who will? Then, there are the groceries and the needs of others. When men shop isn’t it usually for boy toys? Well, at least it certainly seems that way.

In addition to all the shopping, we were also amazed at rack after rack of women’s underwear for sale. Underwear and hip hugging jeans were everywhere. Every color of the rainbow could be found. Matter of fact, mountains of it could be found. Prices were good but we still weren’t tempted.

Oops … Someone forgot to finish the job.

Bras were the most common underwear items on display. It kind of reminded us of the old Sears catalogs. Even though there weren’t any dressing rooms around, they still must sell a lot.

You know the saying, “been there, done that”. Well, we’ve certainly been there and done that. Thursday night we have another festival to go to. This time it’s downtown Palm Springs. The streets will be shut down and the vendors will come out with booths, food carts will arrive and even entertainers will show up. It’s their Thursday night Villagefest. It’ll be fun and we’re looking forward to it.

  1. Loved the first picture of the bras. At first I couldn't figure out what it was. So what did "the boys" buy?

  3. I love Paul's comment. Did You buy anything at all? And hopefully the boys were just "window" shopping.
