Watching the Mountain Weather

Age is a high price to pay for maturity.

The time is getting close when many birds start flying south for the winter.  Actually, many birds have already left the northern states for that warmer destination.  It’s also time that many snowbirds are thinking about their departure.  Some have already left too.

I’ve started watching the weather through the mountain passes.  We certainly don’t want to run into any of that icy or snowy stuff.  The lows are starting to dip into the low 30’s but the highs are still right up where they should be.  Of course, averages aren’t dependable because you never know when Mother Nature might decide to throw something unusual into the mix.

Thursday we leave for Justin’s graduation and when we return on Saturday, we’ll start the planning process for sometime after the middle of October to get on the way.  This time it’s a little sad to pull out.  We’ve enjoyed so much being with our kids and their families.  However, we know we will also enjoy the nice warm weather, friends and the ATVs this winter.

Keep those snow showers away for a while.

  1. I with you on avoiding those snow showers.

However, if things go right, we're hoping to drive the RV to Astoria by Christmas, then head South along the coast after New Years. We want to be in Quartzsite for the RV and Craft shows in Jan & Feb.

Is this a crazy idea? More than I normally have?

  2. They're talking snow at Bryce Canyon this week and that is where I wanted to head. But maybe it will be better next week. Have a great time at graduation. But don't delay too long at leaving that north country.

  3. We have bookmarked Grant's Pass webcam and so far it's just rain. Hold off with that snow for about 3 weeks, please.

  6. Snow in the passes means do not pass as far as I am concerned. Don't let the enjoyment of family keep you past the point of safe travel, please.

And tell Justin that tons of people he doesn't know are all rooting for him. :)
