Arizona!! We’re Here!

Youth would be an ideal condition if it came a little later in life.migration

The migration south is over for this year.  The weather is warm … well, maybe a little too warm but it’s not HOT.  Well, it’s not too hot.

Our journey wasn’t as planned at all.  It seemed long and not like we normally travel.  Oh sure, we’ve certainly been known to put 500 and 600 miles behind us in a day but usually these days are short lived and mainly to get a specific destination in a hurry.  After a couple days of travel on the road, we’ve also taken a few days’ rest.  This time we didn’t do that.  We trudged on for five straight days moving on a little farther south each morning.  I don’t like it like that.  It makes what could be a pleasant journey, hard.  This trip south was like that.

However, sometimes with family issues, we feel we must do things that we otherwise wouldn’t want to do.  That is the situation in this case.  Terry’s folks are in the Phoenix area and even though we will be about 45 miles away from them, he at least will be able to help his mother out a couple days a week once everything is settled.  We will see how it goes.

The Elks in Needles was a great place to spend Friday night.  The RV area overlooks the lights of the town.  It’s a short distance from the casinos of Nevada and the flowing Colorado River.  Stopping in this location gave us an opportunity to look around a little.  I liked the area and would definitely want to come back some time and some day when the weather is perfect.  Maybe it’ll be a stopover when we head back north in the spring.  Of course, that’s a bit away and you know by now I can’t make plans one day ahead let alone six months in advance.

Our motorhome is now backed into a site where we hope it’ll be for a while.  We haven’t stayed in this park before so if we like it, we’ll be here a while.  If not, we’ll move on … one month at a time.  Our trailer is backed in across the road from our site.  The quad is sitting out front.  We can use the quad here as transportation in the park and there are miles and miles of riding trails around the park ….. thus, one of the reasons we chose this park.  There's a pool, tennis courts, exercise room, library, craft room and they just finished building a huge new recreation building.  It's bigger than what we normally prefer but actually smaller than most of the parks in this area.  We're not used to all this STUFF and only time will tell.

As I’m posting this it is Tuesday.  I need to take a few days rest …. and maybe ride the quad a bit.  Duchess is certainly happy to be off the road.  Ask her.  We did.
