So Much To See and Do!

There is so much to see and do in Las Vegas. We may be here months before we actually pull out! Send money!

Linda and Ed play bingo at the casinos. I haven’t played bingo in many, many years and never at a casino. Linda was our mentor. We went to Boulder Station just down the road to see how it’s done in the big time! Playing bingo today at a casino is not the same way it was played years ago or with the little bingo games you bought at Toys R Us. Just like slot machines, bingo is now a computerized game …. or can be. Actually, you have a choice. You can use a computerized monitor that does it all for you. All you have to do is yell “BINGO” when the machine tells you that you have one.

The other way is on paper bingo sheets but you have to have the official “dauber” or you can’t play. Linda had all different colors of them so we used hers. Another friend had actually won using one of the daubers in Linda’s bag so that’s the one I wanted. However, all the luck in it must have been drained out in that one big win. We didn’t win a thing. Some people say it’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game. Well, that’s not my theory. If I didn’t want to win, I wouldn’t play.

Later that day Terry and I took a drive down the strip. That was really, really difficult to do. It wasn’t the traffic on the street that made it difficult. It was because there were so many things to look at on both sides of the street. The only place traffic was bad was on the sidewalks as crowds of people walked from one casino to another. However, with NASCAR in town this weekend, we have put that sightseeing adventure off until they all leave next week ... maybe.

Farther down Las Vegas Boulevard is an outlet mall. Naturally we had to check it out too. We walked from one end of it to another and then discovered time was fleeting. If we didn’t hightail it out of there, we’d miss out on the seafood buffet back at the Boulder Station. Sure enough … by the time we arrived there it was too late to stand in the long line and still show up at the Karaoke Bar by 8:00. We settled for pizza but put the seafood buffet on our calendar for next Friday ----- hopefully.

Boulder Station is huge. It is just huge. Slot machines are all over the place. We were so busy running from one end of the casino looking for people we knew that we didn’t have time to check out the penny or nickel slots. We did see the “high limit” room and noticed some slots have a minimum of $100. I guess that’s where the high rollers go. We wouldn’t know.

There were ten of us at our table for karaoke. Eight of us were chicken to get up and sing. However, we certainly enjoyed listening to Ed and Linda. They are so good and it was so much fun. We really, really had a great time. It was about midnight when we went to bed …. if that tells you anything.

I certainly wish I could learn to sleep in. This morning it was another 4:30 AM morning. I think we need to go back East. I would like their time clocks better than ours.

Wow! Las Vegas is so much fun. We’ve seen so little of it and there’s so much to see. I never dreamed it would be like this. One week ago Saturday we arrived in the area starting at Boulder City. It seems like we arrived yesterday. I’m going to be asking my kids to wire us money soon! We’ll certainly need it if we stay here long!
