Transfer Meltdown

A man is a person who will pay two dollars for a one-dollar item he wants. A woman will pay one dollar for a two-dollar item she doesn't want.

Dave and Nancy (Shadowtracks) were staying at an RV park just down the road from us for a few days.av-4492 Well, it was kind of down the road in Desert Hot Springs. It was going to be great to see them again. They were coming over and I was going to put something on the barbecue. The problem was I barbecued more than just the meat. It was the power in the coach! Thank goodness the potatoes had just finished cooking in my little toaster oven before the power went out.

If I had tried, I couldn’t have timed it more perfectly. When I flipped on the air conditioner about five minutes before their arrival, everything went out. Dave’s a “jack of all trades” and probably master of most too. Evidently, a wire nut connection in the transfer switch overheated and melted. Dave found it, did a temporary fix and I was up and running in just a few minutes. Like I said, my timing couldn’t have been better. Now we just have to get it fixed permanently but for now it’s working great!

I can’t believe I didn’t take any pictures. I always take pictures. We were so busy talking and catching up that only after it was very dark and dinner was over did I even think about pictures. We’ll be seeing them again jet[5]shortly so I plan to make up for it …. if I remember.

Terry was due back from New Jersey on Sunday but he didn’t make it. He was on the plane out of Newark to Dallas just like we planned. It was the flight from Dallas to Palm Springs that didn’t work out so well. The last flight of the day to Palm Springs was full with no empty seats for him. Instead of spending the night in the airport at Dallas he opted to grab a flight to Phoenix and spend the night there instead. We’ve spent many of nights in airports so I can’t say he hasn’t done this before. He had a better chance of getting on a plane out of Phoenix Monday morning than he did from Dallas. So, as I’m posting this he’s finally in the air on the last leg of his journey. It’s been a long trip taking more than 24 hours after departure to just cross the U.S. I’m sure he’ll be napping today.

  1. Glad he's almost home. He will definitely need a long, long nap. When we were at the Rally in IN, every time we went by Shadowtracks rig they were out there working on something. But one time, Nancy was actually holding up the rig with her legs. Quite a feat. Very talented.
