Counting the Days by Food We Eat

When life becomes a roller coaster sit in the front seat, throw your arms in the air and enjoy the ride.

Our little lake cabin has been closed up pretty much for the winter. After moving the motorhome out on Monday we went back the next day to turn off the water, disconnect the electricity, put on tarps and pick up any trash that might have been left around.

We also wanted to say goodbye to all the little animals we had been enjoying. The deer came out to say “goodbye” and in return we fed them. However, we couldn’t locate “kitty” but still left food that we hope she’ll find. It was a bittersweet farewell. We actually hate to move out but then again, we’re also looking forward to returning to the Palm Springs and Yuma area for the winter and reconnecting with all of our RVing friends. It’s the best of both worlds. Summer in the north and winter in the south.

We’re trying to get just about everything in that we can in the next few days. If you know us by now, you know that usually has a lot to do with food. We are counting off the rest of our days here by the food we have planned and what we’re going to eat. It’s all special in one way or another. Thursday night it was my turn and we had Oxtail Stew. Oxtail is a meat that was pretty popular during the Great Depression mainly because it was so tasty and cheap! However, it’s not so cheap today. On Friday the schedule is for BBQ Wild Salmon that our son, Lee, is fixing. That’s his specialty. Sabrina is fixing Stroganoff on Sunday especially for Terry since he loves it SO SO much. We don’t know what we’re doing on Saturday. If it’s not leftovers, it just might be Terry’s turn to treat. And, again, we can all guess what we’ll do if he treats ….. go out.

It’s really difficult to stay on any type of diet with all this meal planning and food. Eventually, this stupid diet will be over and eventually I won’t have to worry about it again …. well, that is until I have to lose what I gain by going out all the time. Oh well, down 19 1/2 pounds and more to go. The next few days I’m just hoping to stay even.

Check out the panorama of the Kalama High School soccer field. I just love the automatic panorama feature on the camera I purchased. It’s so fun to use it!

Thursday night was soccer night for Jordan. So, we all went to the game for support. Sabrina is her biggest fan as her vocal chords certainly get a good workout. The game on Thursday wasn’t just a game. It went into double overtime and then the kickoff. Need I tell you that it was a very close game?

Here are a few photos of Jordie moving the soccer ball along.

  1. Wow! A soccer game that goes to a kickoff ending is very exciting indeed! I haven't seen one of those in years but I remember feeling the tension.

  2. All your "friends" are going to miss you but the place looks really great. So did Sabrina lose her voice?

  3. Me too! It's all about food. Today I bake; a cake to take to Gayle and Vahan's; an apple pie for Sandie; cookies for whomever. Today dinner at G & V, tomorrow G & V come here. Monday dinner with Jim and Sandie. Yippee!
