Entertainment from the 30’s !!

DSC07885The buffet at the Harrah’s Casino in Maricopa is fantastic. They have an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet on Friday nights. We had been there several times before. I was more than anxious to go back. It had also been a while since we had donated a few dimes to a casino. So, this was our adventure on Friday. Toni and Doug tagged along. Signing up for a Player’s Card usually brings some pretty good perks. The perks at this one included a free buffet and $15 in playing money. It was fun but I have favorite machines and didn’t find any of those at this Harrah’s. The food was fantastic though. Crab, crab and more crab plus prime rib, clams, salmon and numerous other goodies.

On Saturday Terry and I went to the outlet mall south of Casa Grande. We had visited before when this mall had been booming. That’s not the case anymore. Most of the stores had shut their doors. We ended up going to the new mall instead but just hit a few of the stores. This mall booms during the winter with all the snowbirds but I bet has trouble pulling folks other times during the year. It’s hard to imagine a town the size of Casa Grande being able to support a mall this size. Oh well, it’s Christmas time so we’ll do our best to donate what we can!seafood

This was my FIRST plate ----

We stopped by Fry’s grocery store on the way back to pick up a couple steaks and took them over to Toni’s for Doug to put on the grill. Toni had fixed food to go with the steaks plus she had baked pies. Obviously, Toni can cook and we certainly can eat.

Afterwards, we went over to the clubhouse to listen to the band entertain. We had no clue what kind of band or where they were from. It was a fun evening … along with the flashing I posted about yesterday. Most of the songs we didn’t know and after being there for a while we realized why when one of the band members asked for requests for music. He wanted the folks to let him know what songs they wanted to hear that they had grown up with …… from the 30’s and 40’s!!! We got a chuckle out DSC07971of that. However, looking around we knew there were quite a few who probably could do a lot of requesting. We’ve never listened to music from that era but no wonder we didn’t recognize the songs. The band was good but they definitely need to update their music.

The sunrises have been gorgeous. Usually about 6:55 A.M. there is an amazing red sky or at least there has been. I’ve walked down to the end of the DSC07903park several times just to enjoy it. Terry and Duchess have never seen it except in pictures.

As you can tell, “grandpa” added a little window treatment to his car. We chuckled over that and wanted to share with a picture of the sticker we found on this car in the parking lot.

Check out the work-in-progress flash I added to the bottom of this blog. I spent hours and hours trying to figure out how to post xml driven flash to a blog. Flash was easy but the xml driven flash threw me for a loop! Why is it something so simple can take so long to figure out??? It'll be changing today after I "un-scrunch" the photos but at least it's finally working.

Today we're off to the BIG CITY and Fry's Electronics (my favorite store). Our friends, Janice and Jerry, will be arriving today. They've been hiding in Texas but we'll probably have a reaquainted shindig tonight!

  2. The party store at that outlet mall was the only store we found when we were there. I want to go to Harrah's for their buffet. I'll get there sometime. And the pictures at the bottom are so neat. I bet you had so much fun figuring that out. Jim took his camera with him and is going to have Todd help him with a couple of things.

  3. XML flash can be a pain in the ---. You did a good job on your first attempt. If you only spent hours and hours, you did real good! It took me two days! Oh my too much time. LOVE the picture of the sunrise.
We could never eat as much as you all do...we gain weight just eating the little we do. I am on a diet now so I can eat my heart out over the holiday. How do you all burn off the calories? I need your secret! NOW!
