Fremont Street and Happy Birthday, Justin

justin1

Happy Birthday, Justin. Our oldest grandson is 18 years old today. And, he’s quite a young man! Happy, happy birthday!

There is a Las Vegas we had never seen before. Sure, we had been here. Terry and I both had been here for business meetings several years ago. However, at different times. We’d also been through the airport. I can’t remember where his meeting was but mine was at New York New York. The reason we didn’t get to see much of Las Vegas was because there was much more business than pleasure. Now we’re discovering a little of what we missed.

We arrived in town on Tuesday. That evening we had our first Las Vegas buffet at Terrible’s Casino. With a coupon and less than $10 we received two fabulous buffet dinners. Then, of course, we donated a little afterwards in their slot machines. It was definitely a donation because we didn’t walk out with anything more than we had entered the casino with. They get you in with the food or the token free play and then before you know it, you’re leaving more cash behind. That’s how they plan it and that’s usually what happens.

Six of us piled into the Hyder’s car and got our first tour of the city. It was our overview tour. The city was bright and people were all over. Las Vegas is definitely a “hopping” town.

Wednesday Ed barbecued ribs and then baked his ever-so-popular strawberry cake. Again, we had fabulous food and wonderful company. Then, we got our first real exposure to Fremont Street downtown Las Vegas. What can I say? We have been many places in our lives but nothing compares to this. The lights, the people, the glitter and the action is non-stop 24-hours a day. And, to think we haven’t even hung around The Strip yet. There’s not much I can say except … amazing! It was just amazing.

I’m beginning to wonder a couple things now. First, how will we see everything this city has to offer in the time we have planned? Second, how can we afford it?

One thing for sure, we are definitely going to be busy for the next few weeks.

laptop

Terry’s computer bit the dust. He usually ends up with my hand-me-down laptops but this time I wasn’t quite ready to upgrade. He got the new one. You can guess what he’s busy doing ….. setting up his favorite programs and getting it ready to go. The park Wi-Fi is good from the motorhome so that’s what he’s using and not our aircard.

  1. Walmart has a transfer cable for like $20 that takes almost everything from one computer to the other. But I bet you knew that already. BTW I stole the group picture. I bought a digital photo frame so you guys are always with us.

  2. We have been to Las Vegas so many times, Jerry was born and raised there and still we have not seen it all. Probably never will and that is what keeps bringing us back.

Jerry usually gets my laptop but like you guys, I was not ready this time for an upgrade when his went kaput. Will keep in mind about the transfer cable.
