Don’t they say trouble usually comes in threes? Thus, my thought is that it’s Janice’s fault we didn’t have a nice smooth ride when we left from Palm Springs to Boulder City. Well, she was the one who wondered what was going to happen next since we had recently experienced a few little “issues”. My thought is if she hadn’t wondered what was going to happen next, nothing would have happened. So, it’s her fault. You’ve got to blame someone when you can and you most certainly don’t want that someone who gets blamed to be YOU.
The first incident happened Saturday night. The shortest way from their place to our place was to cut through the back grass. My hands were loaded with a computer, cords, a mouse, a glass and my phone. It was dark and I didn’t see the metal awning stake that was still in the ground. I may not have seen it but my foot had no trouble finding it. The metal awning stake was there. The awning wasn’t. Down I went. My first concern was my computer, of course. Then, I realized I had a bloody nose but other than that I actually didn’t start hurting until about 24 hours later. My computer was absolutely fine …. thank goodness. That was most important.

Putting the door back on
The next little “issue” occurred the following morning. Terry had put everything away outside and I was finishing up inside. He took Duchess for a walk and I brought in the main slide. Oh oh …… something caught underneath in the basement bin and opened the door on the wrong side. In other words, it tore the door off on the hinge side and crinkled the top a tad. It was something that could be fixed even though it set our departure back about an hour. With the help of our neighbor, the door was straighten out and put back on. Another lesson learned.
Our route from Palm Springs to Boulder City was via CA-177 and CA-95. CA-177 was a beautiful route. We enjoyed the two-lane highway and the desert scenery. However, CA-95 was like a roller coaster ride. It was up and down and up and down and up and down. You get the picture I’m sure. By the time we arrived at our destination everything was a mess. The worst part of it was that the front electric shade was off on the passenger side. We couldn’t fix it last night but that’s just one more thing to take down and have to put back up.
Welcome to Nevada (or was it goodbye California?)
There was a bright side. We arrived at the Boulder City Elks where a site had been reserved for us. The host is super nice and the park is one of the best. The sites are large with full hookups. Our plan was only to stay a couple nights but it sure wouldn’t be difficult to change those plans and stay a few more. Oh well …… Las Vegas here we come on Tuesday but I’m sure we’ll be back to this Elks!
Plans are already in the works to check out Hoover Dam and view Lake Mead on Monday. Have you ever noticed that there isn’t any rest for the wicked? We must be pretty wicked ‘cuz we never seem to be able to have enough time to rest. But, do we really want to? Sometimes we do but most times we don't.
Lake Mead from Boulder City
In this 24 hour period we learned three lessons. We don’t like to learn that many lessons in a short period of time. Actually, we’d rather learn from other’s experiences and not from our own.
We had another discovery. Nevada is on the same time zone as California. We had already changed all our clocks. I was so happy to be back on Arizona time. Instead of the clock telling me that I was awake at 4:30 AM, I figured it would now show 5:30 AM. Alas, I was wrong. I can hardly wait until daylight savings time. Then, things will work better for me.
Oh ... I almost forgot. Our anniversary is coming up in a couple of days. You can send gifts to the Thousand Trails park in Las Vegas. That's where we'll be celebrating!
Way too many "lessons". Sure hope our journey goes smoother than yours. So that means I need to change my clocks when we head out that way. I hate changing time zones.
ReplyDeleteLessons...hmmm, you should be set for the entire rest of the year now...you think?
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary!! You were right about my blog picture...I changed it. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI did ya consider that maybe it weren't realy yer fault you tripped over that there stake. Maybe it were a wildcat which set a trap for that mouse y'all was a carrying.
