One thing we’ve got to say about Terry’s doctors is that they are right on top of him. As most of you know, he was diagnosed with colon cancer in March, had surgery in May and has already had a couple cancer screenings. Well, it’s time for one more. The first doctors he had only wanted to test him once a year after the surgery. However, after changing to another specialist in Portland, he found the new one wants to test him every three months instead. We like that better. Even though we both hate flying any place during the winter time, it’s almost impossible to avoid it. Tuesday he has to get on that plane again since his oncologist in Portland wants to see him on Wednesday. We’re hoping for good news again and, of course, that’s also what we’re expecting.
Flying used to be so easy. There were more seats available, we didn’t have to worry about moving the motorhome or someone to watch the dog. Now it’s not that easy but we still have managed. Terry took a trip to New Jersey the end of October, I went over Thanksgiving. Now that December is here, Terry’s heading towards the airport Tuesday and next week I’ll go one more time this year. That’s two trips to New Jersey and two trips to Portland. I hate flying in the winter because you never know what to expect. On top of all the people out there trying to get on a flight for the holidays, you also have all the ice and snow storms plus delays to worry about. It’s not fun. On top of that …. it’s cold in the north!
We certainly have not been experiencing cold weather here. It’s been super nice. The temperature has been hitting close to 80 during the day and cooling down to the low 40’s at night. It gets a little chilly sitting outside once the sun goes down but at least it makes for pleasant sleeping.
We’re moving … again. This time we’re moving from Casa Grande to the Apache Junction area. Casa Grande is a nice little town but there really isn’t a lot to do there. The park we were at was very nice. It had just about every amenity one could want. However, it was a long ways to the places we wanted to go. So, we’re pulling up those jacks and heading north about 50 miles. We’ve discovered many parks are still pretty empty. However, we figure hoards of people will start heading this way after the first of the year.
Many folks we’ve met go back to the same place every winter. They’ve found the place they want to be every year. How do they determine that? We haven’t figured that out yet. Everyone has different things they’re looking for. Some snowbirds head to a park just for the people they know who stay there. Next year we may just push a little farther east and spend the winter in south Texas ,,,,,, or we may not. We’re still hunting for that perfect park in that perfect location with the perfect people there. Where is it?
Prayers for Terry and a great report. Are you sure you want to go north or east? The weather is really lousy.
