A Visit From Coach-Net

I’ve gotten really good at changing our plans.  Thank goodness that these 0arrived[6]plans are always written in chalk so that they are easy to change.  Only a few things ever get written in ink.

Remember this picture?

Our motorhome has been scheduled to move down the road several times in the past couple of weeks.  Every time we planned on moving it, the little eraser and new chalk would come out and the plans would be changed.  After all, isn’t that what writing things in chalk is all about?   We had become way too comfortable in our little nest.  Our propane tank still hadn’t been refilled and we were amazed it hadn’t run dry.  However, we could put off the move no longer.  We desperately needed propane.

Since we were closer to the Best Buy in Portland where we were rathermouse than where we were going, that was the first stop of the day.  Off to Best Buy in the morning for a World of Warcraft mouse for Terry.  Sometimes you have to visit the big boy shops if you want specialized toys.  Since Fry’s Electronics was on the other side of Portland, we opted for Best Buy which was much, much closer.

After the major purchase of the day, it was back to the motorhome to get ready to move.  Well, first of all, Justin had to program the mouse for Terry.  It’s nice having techie teenagers around.  They can do all sorts of things that you don’t have to do.

Next, the slides came in and tanks were emptied.  We were ready to go except …….. the driver’s captain seat wasn’t getting power to turn around!  You certainly couldn’t drive down the road if the seat wasn’t facing forward.  Could you?

Out came the new voltage meter we had purchased at the swap meet in Yuma.  We figured that this little meter wasn’t such a good buy after all.  It didn’t work.  Terry took out one of the relay fuses to have it tested at the local hardware store.  These little fuses aren’t available everywhere.  truckThe fuse tested fine but they were out of voltage meters.  We couldn't test anything we couldn't pick up and take to the hardware store.

Next option …… call Coach-Net.  We had never used them before and only changed from Good Sam a year ago.  One thing for sure though if we were going to get on the move, we needed to have this chair facing towards the road and not towards the passenger.

Our son lives on a hill on a very narrow road and it wasn’t long until this big truck came down that road looking for us.  In less than five minutes he had the chair turned around and he was out there.   The cost $82 and more than worth it to us to have someone who knew exactly what to do to take care of it.   We were pleased.  Matter of fact, we were mighty pleased.

We were finally ready to move but only had twenty miles to drive so it wasn’t a long drive.  Right across the road from where we filled our propane tanks was Papa Pete’s Pizza. A pizza was ordered for take-out.  With full propane tanks and food, we were on the road again. Now I know we had just had pizza the other day but this was convenient besides we had nothing to eat for dinner.  Remember, we had been parked right next to two teenagers.  It was their responsibility to see that our cupboards and refrigerator were bare prior to us moving out.  They did good.   Our food supply was definitely low.

Within a half an hour we were set up in our new site right on the Columbia River.  Last year when we were here we thought the internet signal was good.  Well, the signal is good.  It’s just that the bandwidth is very, very slow.  Terry wasn’t a happy camper.  I’m not so sure he’s going to want to stay here for another seven days.  We may be moving sooner than we think.  Those Navy ships may just have to travel in front of this RV park without us here to watch them.  Only time will tell.

I do have the little chalk eraser out just in case we need to use it again.

  1. At least you have a signal. When we head up to Hell Creek, I won't even have that much. Oh well. Jim gets to fish.

  2. Love the flexability of this life style. That looked like a pretty campground, would hate to leave, but I too can't stand not having good internet.

  3. So glad you got to move but what was wrong with the seat?
