Old Boat -- New Top

It seems every year we’ve had a boat transaction or four.  This year we’re not buying a new boat.  We ordered a new top for boat #4 -- the one we bought after boat #3 at the end of last summer.

First, we ordered a bimini top.  Then, we changed our mind and ordered a front section to attach to the bimini top.  The set-up turned out even better than we thought it would.  Now we want more.  We didn’t think we’d want a stern cover (a cover to the back of the boat) but we do.  So, that’s on order now but we’re really pleased so far.  It will certainly keep out the wet and cold  --- not that we are around when it’s wet and cold – but it will keep it out.

boatsmallThis is the top we had on it.  The problem with this top is that it didn’t fold down.  You couldn’t travel down the freeway with the top up or you might lose it.  A zillion little scews had to be undone for the top to lay flat.

Once we get all of Terry’s cancer checkups behind him this month, we’re hoping to head to the coast to do a little fishing and a little crabbing.  Guess what we’re taking with us.  We’re taking the BOAT!  Spiker doesn’t get to keep all the crabs.  We get some.

So, we’ve decided we want to be at the coast.  Has everyone made their reservations for the holiday?  We didn’t.  I tried to make some today.  I couldn’t.  The park we hoped to be at was full.  Oh oh … I hope someone cancels.  I’ll be checking daily.

We did get a few days at Long Beach Thousand Trails and a few days at the Seaside TT.  Most of all we wanted a couple of weeks at Paradise Cove which is close to Rockaway Beach.  It's an RPI park and has it's own private marina.  The park sits on Nehalem Bay and the bay is filled with crabs and salmon just waiting for us to get there and pull them in.   Well, at least that's what we like to think.  We did get those reservations!  Yippee!  Now if you have reservations at either of the two Thousand Trails parks mentioned above over the 4th of July ..... please cancel so that we can go.

  1. Great looking top for the boat. Jim's been getting his boat ready to go but the weather is definitely no cooperating. Tornadoes, hail, rain, wind. I'm so happy to be here. We're supposed to go to Hell Creek next week but not sure what the weather is going to do to us. Sorry I can't cancel my coast reservations for you.

  2. Our coast is along the Mississippi river. I don't think you can catch crab or salmon here. How about walleye?

  5. Did you see that our park has a boat launch? And did I tell you that the fishing is great?

Your boat looks great by the way.

  6. we took our boat out the other day (our 12 ft dinghy) and it really made us miss boating. We did enjoy being on the river for the day though. We were hoping to go today but the weather turned to crap yet again.
